How to Decorate a Cozy Living room?
Cozy decorating is a mix, as showcased by this 18th-century home designed by Tom Scheerer.
A Mix of Old and New
In the living room of this 18th-century Long Island farmhouse, designer Tom Scheerer grouped his clients' heirloom antiques with newer pieces for a relaxed conversation between styles. The hearthside gathering, on a sea-grass rug from Design Materials, mixes Louis XV armchairs, a Luther Quintana sofa, and one of a pair of thrift-shop wing chairs in Shawnama Crewel from Travers. The faux-tortoiseshell
coffee table is a vintage Karl Springer piece.
A Den with Curves
In the den, bold concentric circles of a custom braided-wool rug play up the curves of twin bergères à la reine in a
blue Hinson linen. Curly Mongolian lamb's wool covers an ottoman designed by Scheerer. Framed 18th-century deeds to the property hang above a sofa in Jane Shelton Staten ticking with pillows in a Raoul Textiles floral, Secret Garden.
